PRECISION FORMULATION FOR SUPPLEMENTAL SUCROSE FEEDING

  • 2. IS BIO-CONTROL INTENDED FOR WINTER FEED?
Yes, the period of winter confinement is commonly understood to be the most challenging seasonal period for the colony. Increased disease pressure-transmission rates, the heightened metabolic demands of thermoregulation, and the relative humidity/moisture regulation requirements in the colony and within the bee are significant contributing and compounding stressors. We believe this prolonged period of metabolic challenge requires the metabolic support molecules defined by nature to facilitate an optimized overwinter outcome. We have carefully respected the compositional profile of floral nectar to not add foreign molecules or biologically inappropriate concentrations of nutrients during this stressful seasonal period. “If an optimized spring is the objective, ensuring that your winter feed contains the biological support molecules defined by nature as part of the honeybees’ winter nutritional requirements, will help facilitate that outcome. 102.5mg/liter is the recommended dosage for winter feed as this concentration closely mimics the nutrient composition of floral nectar.
  • 4. WHAT IS NEW WITH THIS UPDATE?
We are happy to announce that our full in-house formulations are now commercially available for beekeepers to incorporate into their management programs. With these updates, you will notice that the previous light yellow color of BIO-CONTROL & BIO-ACTIVATOR is now slightly reddish. This is due to the pigmentation of the bioflavonoids, polyphenols, and pyrroloquinoline quinone. Additionally, BIO-CONTROL 200 is now called BIO-CONTROL "Hobby/Sideline'', and we have included a measuring scoop with this size package for easier measuring in smaller quantities. To all those who took the time to write us to make that suggestion, thank you - we truly appreciate the feedback. BIO-CONTROL 1000 is now called BIO-CONTROL ''Sideline/Commercial". Note: this package does not contain a measuring scoop, and remains as by weight dosage instructions. Our packaging has been upgraded to a more robust pouch design with a triple lock zipper for improved storage between usage. Each package contains a desiccant pack and an oxygen absorber. After the initial opening, the oxygen absorber may be removed and discarded, but the desiccant pack should remain in the pouch with the product for the duration of use to assist with moisture control. BIO-ACTIVATOR 50 and BIO-ACTIVATOR 600 packages have an increased net weight to 109 and1,308 grams respectively. The dosage per pound of patty has been adjusted from 2.16 grams per pound to 2.18 grams per pound to accommodate the inclusion of the remaining elements of our BIO-ACTIVATOR formulation.
  • 3. DOSAGE RANGES FOR BIO-CONTROL / WHEN & WHY?
BIO-CONTROL DIRECTIONS FOR USE: 102.5mg – 307.5mg (Approx. 1-3 scoops) per liter The 102.5mg/liter (Approx. 1 Scoop) recommendation is intended to mimic the composition and concentrations of these molecules found naturally in floral nectar. This dosage recommendation is intended to be employed in the following applications: Fall feeding for winter stores During normal apiary conditions not characterized by increased stress, and by extension, an increased metabolic demand for nutrition. The 307.5mg/liter (Approx. 3 Scoops) recommendation is intended to provide a heightened nutritional input option for beekeepers to employ in the following applications: Building population Dearth, or nutritionally depleted conditions Preparation for pollination events Nutritional support for queen-rearing Mobilizing / transport Optimum results are achieved when BIO-CONTROL syrup and BIO-ACTIVATOR patties are used simultaneously to mimic the nutrient state conditions of a pollen and nectar flow.
  • 1. ARE BIO-CONTROL AND BIO-ACTIVATOR INTENDED TO BE USED TOGETHER?
Yes, although each of these nutraceutical formulations can be used separately and will provide meaningful support in that context, we have specifically designed BIO-CONTROL & BIO-ACTIVATOR to simulate the nutrient state conditions of a pollen and nectar flow. We believe that supplementing the two nutritive sources of the honeybee simultaneously, in a biologically appropriate manner produces the best value proposition for supplemental nutrition.
